iPhone 6s

Well, I finally got my iPhone 6s. What a machine! I am coming from a 5s so this 6s seems much faster, larger and just overall cooler. It was a bit of a process to get everything up and running, but up and running it is.

Overview

My Verizon store did not have any of the “Space Gray” models in stock. But, it only took 2 days for my 64 GB iPhone 6s to arrive. Here is the box:

Of course I made an encrypted backup in iTunes on my Mac of all my iPhone 5s stuff before I began this process. I ended up calling a number to Verizon and went through a bunch of steps to get the phone activated. Basically, I had to go through the usual setup including restoring my stuff from iTunes in the process. Eventually (I was on the phone with Verizon for about 30 minutes) everything was in working order. The Verizon tech people were very helpful.

Observations

After you restore your stuff the phone downloads and installs your third party apps. However, in my case, some of the apps just would not install. They kept saying “Waiting” for a day or two so I manually went into the App Store and installed them.

Also, the screen on the 6s is beautiful. Very clear and crisp colors. It even has a “Zoomed” screen feature to make your icons larger.

Overall, I love this phone! It is super fast and very elegant. Force Touch or 3D Touch is very cool. It does take some getting used to, but I can see where it will be very handy.

Conclusion

Not much of a review I guess, but the bottom line is using the 6s going forward is going to be a real pleasure.
