As you know I use a very handy App called CleanMyMac 3 by MacPaw Software. It has all kinds of cleaning functions for keeping your Mac clean and running good. The other day I was reading an article online and they mentioned the Privacy functionality of CleanMyMac 3. I got to thinking that I had never really looked at that feature in CMM 3. When I checked it out here is what I found.
CleanMyMac 3 Privacy
You access the Privacy feature in the left sidebar in CMM 3. When you click on it you get this window:
You can clean out stuff in browsers and Messages. I have always wondered if there was a way to clean out old Messages texts and attachments. I am primarily using Messages in a personal mode. I do not need to keep Messages texts or information. So, with the Privacy feature I can clean out all that stuff.
After you select Messages you have to select how much information you wish to delete in the drop down menu. For me, I chose “Everything”. When I clicked the Remove button all that stuff was cleaned out of my system and I got this completion window:
That was all there was to it. Now, if you have a business or you think you need to keep your Messages information forever (some people do you know) there are Apps that can do that for you.
I want to mention one more thing. If you click on one of the web browsers, Firefox for example, you get a window like this:
You can really clean out a web browser here so I would proceed with caution. You may only want to check off a few of these things and leave others unchecked.
I guess this is not a big discovery, but I think the Privacy feature could come in handy depending on what you wish to clean up. If you don’t need to retain all those Messages texts from the last few years I say clean them out.
